Sanganeri Block Print Cotton Fabric by the Metre

A vertical stripe design with alternating bands of climbing pink lotus and bud motifs on white and mustard grounds, separated by fine green vine borders. The stripes run with the length of the fabric, making cutting and pattern matching straightforward. Works as well for home furnishings as it does for garments.

Hand block printed in Sanganer, Rajasthan using a technique with roots going back over 400 years. Sanganeri printing is recognised by its fine, detailed floral and botanical motifs — butis (small scattered motifs), butas (larger individual motifs), jaal (all-over floral nets), and bel (trailing vine borders) — applied to a light or white base cloth. Each colour is printed separately using hand-carved wooden blocks. The result is a delicate, intricate print that carries the subtle marks of its maker. Minor variations in print alignment and colour are part of the hand-made process.

Machine wash at 30°. Some colour release on first wash is normal — it settles. Pre-wash before sewing if you prefer.
