Cream Ground Blue & Gold Floral Jaal Block Print Cotton

A dense, all-over floral jaal on a warm cream ground — circular blue and white flower heads on a scrolling gold-ochre vine fill the cloth from edge to edge. Well-registered and detailed, with a slightly vintage quality to the colour palette. One of the more distinctive prints in the range.

Hand block printed in Sanganer, Rajasthan using a technique with roots going back over 400 years. Sanganeri printing is recognised by its fine, detailed floral and botanical motifs — butis (small scattered motifs), butas (larger individual motifs), jaal (all-over floral nets), and bel (trailing vine borders) — applied to a light or white base cloth. Each colour is printed separately using hand-carved wooden blocks. The result is a delicate, intricate print that carries the subtle marks of its maker. Minor variations in print alignment and colour are part of the hand-made process. This is a genuine Sanganeri block print cotton fabric, sold by the metre from the UK.

Machine wash at 30°. Some colour release on first wash is normal — it settles. Pre-wash before sewing if you prefer.
