Sanganeri Block Print Cotton Fabric by the Metre

Individual rose buti motifs scattered across a warm mustard ground — each flower printed in soft pink with green leaves on a white halo resist. The spacing is generous, giving the print an airy, unfussy feel. Pairs well with plains and stripes from the same palette.

Hand block printed in Sanganer, Rajasthan using a technique with roots going back over 400 years. Sanganeri printing is recognised by its fine, detailed floral and botanical motifs — butis (small scattered motifs), butas (larger individual motifs), jaal (all-over floral nets), and bel (trailing vine borders) — applied to a light or white base cloth. Each colour is printed separately using hand-carved wooden blocks. The result is a delicate, intricate print that carries the subtle marks of its maker. Minor variations in print alignment and colour are part of the hand-made process.

Machine wash at 30°. Some colour release on first wash is normal — it settles. Pre-wash before sewing if you prefer.
