A loose, free flowing floral vine in white on a warm ochre-mustard ground — large open flowers, buds, leaves and seed pods move across the cloth with a naturalistic ease. Two-colour and graphic, it has a boldness that photographs well and looks striking in longer lengths. A strong all-rounder.
Hand block printed in Sanganer, Rajasthan using a technique with roots going back over 400 years. Sanganeri printing is recognised by its fine, detailed floral and botanical motifs — butis (small scattered motifs), butas (larger individual motifs), jaal (all-over floral nets), and bel (trailing vine borders) — applied to a light or white base cloth. Each colour is printed separately using hand-carved wooden blocks. The result is a delicate, intricate print that carries the subtle marks of its maker. Minor variations in print alignment and colour are part of the hand-made process. This is a genuine Sanganeri block print cotton fabric, sold by the metre from the UK.
