Red Floral Vine Block Print Cotton

A dense, all over floral vine in white and black on a deep red ground — small open flowers, buds and fine leaves fill every inch of the cloth. Two-colour and highly detailed, the red ground gives it real warmth and intensity. The kind of fabric that looks equally good as a full garment or cut into smaller pieces for quilting.

Hand block printed in Sanganer, Rajasthan using a technique with roots going back over 400 years. Sanganeri printing is recognised by its fine, detailed floral and botanical motifs — butis (small scattered motifs), butas (larger individual motifs), jaal (all-over floral nets), and bel (trailing vine borders) — applied to a light or white base cloth. Each colour is printed separately using hand-carved wooden blocks. The result is a delicate, intricate print that carries the subtle marks of its maker.
