Sage Green Medallion Jaal Block Print Cotton

A large scale medallion jaal in sage green, lavender, teal and olive — complex, interlocking floral rosettes repeat across the full width of the cloth. The repeat is big and the detail extraordinary. Particularly striking for home furnishings and statement dressmaking pieces where the full pattern can be appreciated.

Hand block printed in Sanganer, Rajasthan using a technique with roots going back over 400 years. Sanganeri printing is recognised by its fine, detailed floral and botanical motifs — butis (small scattered motifs), butas (larger individual motifs), jaal (all-over floral nets), and bel (trailing vine borders) — applied to a light or white base cloth. Each colour is printed separately using hand-carved wooden blocks. The result is a delicate, intricate print that carries the subtle marks of its maker.
